Rotary Club of Sydney

The Rotary Club of Sydney meets each Tuesday at 12:15 at the Holiday Inn in Sydney. Our club was chartered in 1920 and has a rich history of service to youth and youth organizations. We have sponsored Rotary 693 Air Cadet Squadron for 55 years. We also sponsor Interact Clubs at both Riverview Rural High School and at Eskasoni First Nation. Annually we provide scholarships to students at both Sydney Academy and Riverview Rural High School. We also support Camp Tidnish, the Terry Fox Run, The Salvation Army Kettle Campaign, the Regional Hospital Foundation, Cape Breton University and The Cape Breton Victoria District School Board. Internationally we respond to campaigns for disaster and humanitarian relief, clean drinking water facilities, literacy and assist in the effort to eradicate polio throughout the world. We still have time for fun and social activities and would be pleased to introduce you the fellowship of Rotary.

Rotary Club of Sydney-Sunrise

The Rotary Club of Sydney-Sunrise meets on Thursday mornings at 7:30 for breakfast at Boston Pizza, Sydney. The atmosphere is always casual and fun-filled and membership is open to anyone interested in actively giving back to the community. Members volunteer with local organizations such as Loaves and Fishes and the New Dawn Guest Home. Our fundraising activities enable us to provide support for a number of local charities such as the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation, local food banks and the Boys and Girls Club and the Every Woman’s Center . The club also sponsors the Glace Bay High School Interact Club. Globally our club contributes to humanitarian projects supporting world peace, the eradication of Polio, safe drinking water, reduction of poverty and hunger, and literacy. Visit us at

New Waterford Rotary Club

With a proud history of service dating back to 1938, the New Waterford Rotary Club is a vital part of the local community. Its service activities focus on support for health and education, children, students and seniors. The club’s popular ‘Number for Life Lottery’ enables it to generously support many community projects such as the local rink, the work of the Salvation Army and the food bank. The club has also made donations to the New Waterford Library and Maple Hill Manor as well as to the New Waterford Hospital Foundation. Members appreciate the support they receive from the community because it allows them to ‘give back’. They are also proud sponsors of the Breton Education Centre Rotary Interact Club. The club’s community and international service is enhanced by the spirit of friendship and hospitality that is its trademark.

Rotary Club of North Sydney

Chartered in 1938, the Rotary Club of North Sydney is an integral part of the Northside community. The club meets each Wednesday at 5:30 pm at the Clansman Motel in North Sydney.

True to the club’s roots and the Rotary motto of Service Above Self, Northside Rotarians raise thousands of dollars every year in support of various projects including ongoing support for the Clifford Street Youth Centre and for families and children needing specialized medical appliances and equipment. The club also provides scholarships to local graduates and sponsors an Interact service club at Memorial High School.

The club is also involved with a variety of projects in the developing world and generously supports Rotary International’s efforts to eradicate polio worldwide.

The Rotary Club of North Sydney remains strong and active – committed to service while fostering a spirit of fellowship, collegiality and fun. New members are welcome.
